Description

Art Nouveau (“New Art” in French) can trace its beginnings at the end of the 19th century. It was all about an attempt to eradicate the divining line between art and audience. Everything could and should be art. Each country had its own name for the new approach and artists of incredible skill and vision joined the Art Nouveau movement. Alfonse Mucha became famous overnight after a personal exhibition in Paris on January 1, 1895. And, though his name is often used synonymously with Art Nouveau movement in art, he disavowed the connection. Like Sinatra, he merely did it “my way”. His way was based on a strong composition, sensuous curves derived from nature, refined decorative elements and natural colors. Famous French actress Sarah Bernhardt signed him for a six year contract to design her posters and sets, and costumes for her plays. Our “Mucha” Outfit is a modern version of one of fabulous Sarah Bernardt’s outfits designed for her by Alfonse Mucha. Be unique. Be famous your way. It’s High Art. Dress laces up in the back for better shape.
