Amedeo Modigliani was a genius painter who was born in Italy and pursued his career for the most part in Paris, France. After his death in 1920 Modigliani has become the epitome of the tragic artist, creating a posthumous legend almost as well-known as that of Vincent Van Gogh. At first Modiglian’s nudes scandalized the public. One of his personal exhibitions in Paris was even closed by the chief of the Paris police because of the nudes. Later his nudes were recognized by the world as genius paintings in the style of Primitive art.
